Fellas, as cliché and convoluted as Valentine's Day is, it's nigh upon us - for those who remember the rewards are great, for those who forget, well, the rewards are not. Admittedly, I'm just as behind the eight ball as you are. Let's work together on this - I got your back, you got mine, okay? I've picked out four things that should really stoke your girlfriend or wife (assuming you have one or the other, not one of each), plus a fifth specifically for pregnant women (you animal).
There's no lingerie here because I happen to believe that many of the offerings in outdoor clothing have a more sophisticated way of suggesting the woman in your life is beautiful and irresistible.
Let's begin. And if you've got something up your sleeve this year, tell me about it in the comments at the bottom. Cool?

prAna Kaley Tunic
Right, you're going, "Hey bro, don't you know it's winter?" Let me explain something. Valentine's Day is the perfect day to nudge her with a subtle way to tell her she's pretty. Sure, I know there are a number of ways to do that, but prAna clothing wins every time because they look good and are made, in part, with recycled raw materials. When June rolls around, you'll both be very stoked when this gift comes into use. I know my wife would like the color and that fun design. Get it at REI >>>

Patagonia Lithia Skirt
I have a hard time passing up a gift that says, "Brooke, you look incredible in a skirt." Yes, it's another stretch for a gift during winter - but same excuse as above. And I know my wife would love it. The Lithia has another cool feature: it converts to a gorgeous halter top. Why not get your girlfriend or wife a gift that's tells her that she's more than mother? She's also the woman you admire. Get it direct from Patagonia >>>

Everest Designs Bitteroot Earflap Hat
My wife is not crazy about the warm wool winter hat she has, so I know I'd do good to get her a new one. I really like the looks of the Bitteroot. The flaps keep the ears warm - very important - and the knit tassels bring this hat into the realm of so-crazy-cute-she'll-wear-it. Get it at REI >>>

Keen Hoodoo High Lace Winter Boots
There's only one gift that will garner the same reaction as diamond. Shoes. Duh. We're treading on delicate territory here because buying shoes are typically a solitary endeavor. The beauty really is in the eye of the beholder - I like how the purple distinguishes these boots, and they earn first-impression approval for being made by Keen. Buy your girl some high lace boots, and she'll be stoked that you thought of her like this. Get it at Massey's Professional Outfitters >>>

Oh, She's Expecting? Mountain Mama's Shasta Maternity Fleece Vest
Congratulations! Now, it's one of your jobs as an expecting father to be the ultimate supporter during pregnancy. The Mountain Mama line uses a proprietary cut they call Bellyglove - so pefect - that pulls off a miracle as beautiful as birth. It eliminates that apologetic draping of over sized garments, and the up drafts and poking belly of other ill-fitting clothing. Make a pregnant woman look and feel perfect.
