Once upon a time, loading my backpack with three days worth of food, camping gear, and a pair of Chacos slammed my face with an unyielding grin that only a Monday morning in commuter traffic could erase. Few feelings compare to the bliss you experience while packing for a cool trip, whether it's backpacking or kayaking or an afternoon of cragging. The trucks and campers found at the Abenteuer & Allrad Show in Germany will make your head spin at the idea of packing for an adventure. Meet the Frankenrigs that are the confluence of travel dreams and reality.
If you were thinking of a round-the-world trip with the whole family, well, here you go. Let's just go bonkers for a minute or two. Try to dismantle the borders built around your idea of "family camping" and let these, um, trucks and campers redefine things for you.

This Toyota Landcruiser would make a perfect home away from home either in the Sahara or in the mountains just an hour from suburbia. Capable, unique, and outfitted - however it lacks space for more than two.

It's a little bit Tonka-like, but provides comfy shelter with a kitchen.

Alright, a little more bonkers. The 6x6 MAN camper isn't as unusual as you may think, and certainly puts a Toy Hauler to pitiful shame. Mongolia by way of Cape Town, here we come. And plenty of space for homeschooling on the road. The Griswolds to the Brady Bunch would fit just fine.

For those who require a touch more gracefulness in exchange for less space. The Toyota Hilux with a custom camper.

I guess you'd call this the "happy medium" of MAN campers. Inside of this one there's everything you need with a suitable bed, bathroom with running water, diesel heat, and adequate kick-back space.
