Oh, relax. Don't you see the parachute on his back?
If you don't mind getting a little queasy, this video of Dean Potter on this highline slackline will make you grin; and then he'll fall. I make no guarantees about your reaction at that point.
Slacklining, I believe, began as a way to pass time in camp and come up with ways to do stupid human tricks with your friends. I'm talking about the kind that's 30 inches off the ground, not 3000 feet. What you see in this video is an extension of this ground level version taken to new heights - if you'll pardon this blatantly poor pun. Most who try this balancing act up high use a leash of sorts to arrest their fall. Dean here chose a parachute. There's one way to do it.
I've never tried it, but I think I will. Um, the low-to-the-ground version. Brooke's been taking yoga classes and there's even a version of slacklining that employs a bit of it. Concentration, balance, and calorie burning. I love it.
