Camera: Canon 5D | Lens: EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM | Setting: f/4, 1/400th sec, ISO 100 It might be bad form to say this, but this is one of my favorite photos - not best, just favorite. On the technical side of photography, sure I should have used a fill flash or done something to diffuse the sunlight more. But the moment was happening now. Sure, if Chloe was looking up and smiling that'd be an improvement too. But whatever. Bubbles elicit such happiness, don't they? Bob Ross, the chill painter of yore, would have liked bubbles. "Happy things, we want happy things" he repeated. This camp was located up in the Uinta Mountains outside of Salt Lake City, Utah, just above the Provo River. We'd just suffered 3 days in blizzard conditions (in June) in Yellowstone National Park. And down here in God's own Utah we found primo weather, a gorgeous campsite among aspen and ponderosa pine, groves of wildflowers, and - I'll be damned - my group of buddies and their wives and kids. We celebrated it all with a round of bubble blowing, several Provo Girl pilsners, and (of course) tall tale telling around the campfire. Overland Journal, too, elected to use this photo as the opening shot to my article "Home on the Road" in their Spring 2009 issue. What are your thoughts?
