Photo of The Day: Goodbye Summer. That Was Fast.

There's a good chance they won't look at the camera for me because they don't want to take their eyes off of this sunny summer. Summer's over and it went far too fast for us. Brooke, my wife, has started a new full-time job. And it's good. In the sense that steady income is a pretty awesome thing. But I failed to take all the trips I wanted to take. Only a couple made it from calendar to reality. On the upside, we tiled our entire house, which was a job we expected to take us a mere two weeks. Just finished last weekend - started it May 21.

Get the math there? That's why.

Bahia de Los Angeles, these cobalt waters before your eyes here, is almost half way down the Baja peninsula between Tijuana and Cabo San Lucas. This scene, like many others I have digitally socked away, represents one of the happiest days of one of our best trips. What I mean is timing is everything. We scored our secluded camp right on the beach with plenty of time to play in the water, mix margaritas, make fresh guacamole, grill steak, and watch the bay fade to black with the setting sun.

That doesn't always happen.

We're going to need to make up for it before winter settles in.
