Few things are as intriguing to me as people outdoors. Even more so on the trail up Camelback Mountain, which, as you can see, is bursting from the ground right in the middle of Phoenix. Ania (the Ukrainian student living with us for the year) and I hiked this summit last weekend and had a ball. She told me on the trod up the hill that other students in her program - some from Germany, Japan, and elsewhere - think Arizona is boring.
"They don't want to do anything. They're boring, not Arizona," she says. "It's so cool here. I can go to the mountains and do this stuff. Hike a mountain or eat s'mores."
So who are those people in the photo? I don't know. Ania and I got to the top, ate a snack and watched people. This couple sat down nearby and I got a kick out of them - they are awesome, aren't they? Future adventure parents? I had to snap this shot because I love the scene. It's happy and the opposite of boring. iPhones do some cool things. So I hear. And see. People are so interesting
