This is why you plan for Mickey Mouse pancakes on the last morning of a good adventure. That beach behind these unhappy girls is this perfect strip of remote sand at the Sea of Cortés in Mexico. If you don't know it already, kids know exactly how to make a desolate beach with sticks and shells more fun than 60 rounds of Scooby-Doo on the DVD player. They were heartbroken - as if you needed me to say it - when they realized this was our last day in Mexico.
"But I don't want to go home." Can you hear it?
"Tell you what, let's do something really fun today. I mean really fun." Kneel down and speak slowly with your eyebrows up. "What ifffffff weeeee could maaaake sssssssome Mickey Mouse pancakes?"
Samantha, on the right, grinned, then forced it back and looked at the ground trying not to let her face show how awesome she thought that idea was. Chloe's bad at poker. She dropped her thermos there right in the sand and yelled, "I WANT MICKEY MOUSE PANCAKES!"
That's the thing. You always need a new card to play. This day it was Mickey Mouse camping pancakes.
