Fulfilled Dreams: Family Goes Around the World in a MAN Camper

MAN camper, family around the world overlanding expedition

Yes, you're looking at two spare tires. Giant ones.  And a canoe. What the hell kind of weekend family camping trip is this, Stephens? Well, it's not.  This is what a round-the-world family camper looks like, and it'll take a little longer than a weekend.

There's just one problem. I have no clue who this family is.

The make on this beautiful campervan - if you will - is MAN. Which makes it a bitch to Google for some solid information - you try searching "man" and see what clogs up your search cache, especially on a photo search. Here's what I know: MAN is a manufacturer of trucks and buses.  Some people like to take MANs and bolt a custom camper to the hind end and go driving around the world.

As you can see from the photo here, this one has a lovely custom paint job with an alluring tag line across the top, "We are going around the world. Kids pack your bags." Naturally, I assume this is owned and operated by a family with two boys (what gave that away?). Oh!  How I long for more information.  Where are they from?  What inspired them?  Where was this shot? Can I please take a tour inside?

No matter the amount of zooming I do on this photo down below, I can't make out the website painted on the front. So I cast a bit of hope into the elements and see what may happen. If you're out there somewhere, I'm shoving my note in a bottle and tossing it out to sea.

Hey guys!  We like your camper. Actually, we freaking love it.

If anyone knows more about this crew, I'm all ears.

We see vehicles like this now and then an just shake our heads. Are they on vacation or going into battle? FYI - a huge majority of overland beasts like this are driven by Germans. I have no idea why. All you need is an old VW bus. Works for our family ;)

Given the "petit patapon" on there, I suspect these folks are French.

But I don't speak French or German, so, for all I know, that could be German for, "My other car is a VW bus. We just wanted a little more space for this trip."

Ya never know -

Petit Patapon is a kid's clothing company. It could be a sponsor (or maybe it's their company?)

And, I think I do see a VW symbol there on the front. Let us know if you solve the mystery :)

I study in the same school(in Brazil) as Eloi, their son, shown wearing blue in the picture. His dad (Mica Costa Grande) is a portuguese photographer who has made the world's biggest camera, a pinhole in a truck container. Hope that's usefull ;)
